About

I’m Mindie Kniss.

(You say the “K” in Kniss, and it rhymes with miss.) I’ve been a mindset coach since 2007; nearly two decades on the part of performance that lives between knowing and doing. Trading came later, and for a reason. My husband died in 2019. Then COVID hit in 2020, and like a lot of people, I was looking for something new to pour myself into. I took my first trading course that December, placed my first trade in January 2021, and I was hooked. It turned out the thing I’d spent 14 years teaching other people was the exact thing the market was going to demand of me.

The short version

Most people who teach trading focus on setups, and many people who teach mindset don’t have real money on the line. I bridge the two because I’ve found the best place to teach from is my own experience.

I hold funded and evaluation accounts at multiple prop firms. I’ve also failed countless evaluations because I didn’t have the patience and discipline to see them through. If you’ve done that, you already understand why I’m more interested in what goes on inside your head than what’s on the chart.

The chart is the easy part. The mindset is where it’s decided.

Alongside trading, I coach entrepreneurs and traders, and I run a community of early-stage entrepreneurs called Catalyst. The overlap surprises some people, but it shouldn’t. Entrepreneurship and trading both require risk. Often, their decisions run through the same nervous system to the same problem. The instrument changes; the physiology doesn’t.

How I Work

Four things I believe

State is an input

Heart coherence, breath, and nervous-system regulation are measurable and trainable. They aren’t decoration around the strategy; they determine whether the strategy survives contact with a live market.

Execution is the bottleneck

No one’s problem is a lack of information. The gap between what you know and what you actually do under pressure is where the money is, and it’s the part people forget about.

Tell the truth

Most people who buy a prop firm evaluation never reach a sustained payout. Pretending otherwise sells more, and it’s why so much of this industry can’t be trusted. I’d rather be real with a smaller audience.

Life is an adventure

I’m a full-time overlander and often trade on Starlink from the middle of nowhere. For me, this isn’t a content strategy. It turns out that planning, self-reliance, and knowing when to turn back are the same skills I’m describing here, just with worse weather.
